16 Candidates Running for Neighborhood Council
October 26, 2006

Sixteen candidates are vying for fifteen positions on the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council (GTLNC). The election will take place on Sunday, November 5, 9:00AM to 4:00PM, at Ramsey-Shilling Associates, located at Riverside Drive and Forman Avenue. Any person can vote and run for office who is at least 18 years old and lives, works, owns property, or participates regularly in a church, non-profit organization, chamber of commerce within the boundaries of GTLNC. Candidates on the ballot are: Benjamin D. Aiken, commercial real estate investment manager; Reyn Blight, current Council member, economic development consultant for non-profits; Claire Hervey Collins, land use attorney; Dexter Conner, UCLA student and freelance producer; David Damiani, musician and student; Gene H. Klow, architect; Cathy Naugle, current Council member, horse show manager and breeder; Jeff Rector, current Council member, website designer and producer, director, actor; Cathy Saliba, current Council member, fund development consultant for non-profits; Frank Sheftel, local businessman, executive director of a not-for-profit, Proposition 215, SB 420 collective; Jessica Sterling, photographer and gardener; Craig Strong, current Council member, realtor; Maria Tirado, works in the banking industry; Steven Tatgenhorst, indie record label executive; Matt Waldeck, recent graduate of Claremont College, working in advertising; and Jerome G. Williams, actor/filmmaker. Additional “write-in” candidates are anticipated. The Council, which is funded by the City of Los Angeles, is designed to give the public a neighborhood forum for addressing community issues, such as development, congestion, public safety and beautification. Its elected board members are volunteers who give of their time and talents to make Greater Toluca Lake a better place to live. The Council meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Toluca Lake Elementary School on Cahuenga Boulevard.
