Development Town Hall - Feb 28
February 20, 2008
Five local Neighborhood Councils have joined together to hold a Valley Vision Town Hall meeting on Thursday, February 28th starting at 5:00 P.M. at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn to look at the cumulative effects of major developments in the South East Valley. Organized by the Neighborhood Councils of Midtown NoHo, Greater Toluca Lake, Greater Valley Glen, Valley Village and Studio City, the meeting will be moderated by John Greenwood of the CORO Foundation. Participants include developers, city & state agencies, community and political leaders and the general public.
The developments being discussed are the Universal MTA Station on Lankershim, the NoHo MTA Station on Lankershim, the NoHo Commons on Lankershim, the Universal Backlot on Barham, Valley Plaza on Laurel Canyon, Laurel Plaza on Laurel Canyon, and Vineland Avenue at Chandler. All of these developments are within a narrow four-mile radius. It is estimated that these developments would add new high-rise buildings of up to 37 stories with more than 12 million square feet of space, and more than 5, 400 new residential units, plus 14,817 new parking spaces.
It is vital that existing local businesses and area residents understand the impact of these projects and have an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns over issues, such as traffic congestion, public safety, parking, environment, community and quality of life. To that end, developers, representatives from City and State agencies, and political leaders have been invited to participate in the meeting to answer questions and address concerns.
Be there. Be part of the vision. Parking at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn at 4222 Vineland Avenue in Studio City is $4.00 per car and carpooling or use of public transportation is encouraged. The meeting is expected to adjourn at 9:00PM. Please submit questions and comments in advance of the meeting to: sfvalley@gmail.com |
