Editor’s Note:  As GTLNC gets numerous complaints and concerns about issues arising on Caltrans properties (these include freeways, on- and off-ramps, and the “envelope” embankment between chain link fences and the freeway itself), our Assembly District Office secured a specific email address for our Caltrans District 7 and can help us get relief.  Use steps below for best results.

Best practices for Caltrans Customer Service Requests (CSRs):
Step 1:  Submit a CSR
Begin by submitting a CSR to Caltrans to report your concern (e.g., potholes, debris, signage issues, or roadway hazards).  Submit your request online (one request per issue) through Caltrans’s customer service system or contact the appropriate district office.  Do not submit a CSR on multiple concerns.

Step 2:  Save and Share Your CSR Number

After submitting your request, you will receive a Customer Service Request (CSR) number.  Please email this CSR number to  anthony.thornton@asm.ca.gov and any photos you may have which enables our office to track your request and assist with follow-up if needed.

Step 3:  Allow Time for Initial Response

Caltrans requests up to 30 days to review, assess and then respond to  service requests.
Step 4:  Follow Up if Needed

If you do not receive a response within 30 days, or if the issue remains unresolved, you may follow up directly with Caltrans at d7csr@dot.ca.gov .  When you follow up, include:

  • Your CSR number
  • A description of the issue
  • Any relevant details or updates

Copy Our Office (Assembly District 44) on Follow-Up
When you send your follow-up email, please CC our office at anthony.thornton@asm.ca.gov
This ensures Caltrans is aware that you are working with our office and allows us to assist in monitoring your request.
